Swedish cellist, double bassist and composer Lars Danielsson (1958) is a famous name in European jazz. He studied classical cello until he heard the legendary Nils-Henning Örsted Pedersen live and decided to turn to jazz as well as to play double bass – he's been active on the scene since the late 1970s. As the leader and sideman, he collaborated with numerous jazz greats, including Dave Liebman, Bobo Stenson, Alex Acuña, Jon Christensen, John Scofield, John Abercrombie, Charles Lloyd, Jack DeJohnette, Mike Stern, Billy Hart, Terry Lynn Carrington, Michael and Randy Brecker, Trilok Gurtu, Kenny Wheeler, Leszek Możdżer, Arve Henriksen, Bugge Wesseltoft, Nils-Petter Molvær, Jan Lundgren, Youn Sun Nah, Cæcilie Norby, Paolo Fresu, Nils Landgren... Since 2004 he has been an exclusive artist of the renowned German label ACT, under which he has released 11 albums as a leader and another thirty as a sideman.

He started the Liberetto project some ten years ago in collaboration with Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan. The name he thought of described the combination of freedom and lyrical classics, reflecting his previous works and pointing to the future direction of his music. So far, he has released four albums from this series: on all releases, the British John Parricelli plays the guitar, and the Swede Magnus Öström (Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Rymden) plays the drums. Tigran played the piano on the first two albums, then the French-Caribbean pianist Grégory Privat joined the band.

Lars Danielsson returns to Belgrade after an impressive premiere of his Liberetto project in 2013, when he finished his performance with an unforgettable jam session with Polish pianist Leszek Możdżer.
